When I was sitting on a friend's deck on Easter Sunday, the hummingbirds were visiting her feeders. I took this photo of a male hummingbird. He had the red band on his neck. The female wasn't as bright.

I took this photo of the ajuga / bugleweed growing in my back garden. This shade-loving, deer-resistant groundcover has traditionally been planted under large trees. It is a beautiful periwinkle blue and flowers in the springtime.

They are having a special orchid exhibit at the Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. I took this photo at the exhibit today. Besides being beautiful, it smelled wonderful in the display.
